Located in Calhoun County, Texas, Magnolia Beach is easily accessible by car from nearby towns such as Port Lavaca and Victoria. Highway 35 provides convenient access to the beach, with plenty of parking available for visitors.
Corpus Christi is the nearest large city. It’s 87 miles away. The next major city is San Antonio, to the north and it is approximately 153 miles away.
The smaller city of Port Lavaca is only 12 miles away and has everything you need to get stocked up for any length of stay you desire.
Natural Beauty:
Magnolia Beach boasts stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico, with miles of hard pack shoreline and clear, turquoise waters. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach and soak in the sights and sounds of the coastal environment.
Just a short 1 mile walk south is Magnolia Beach Park, then Indianola Beach Park and finally Indianola Pier Park.
Close by is Old Town Lake and several sanctuary areas including, Magic Ridge Sanctuary and Magic Bird Sanctuary.
Activities and Recreation:
You can enjoy many outdoor activities, including swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing. The calm waters make it ideal for families with children to play and splash in the surf.

It is a hard-packed beach that can accommodate any size rig. If you are heavy, you’ll want to take Highway 316 towards Indianola and then make a left on Ocean Dr to get to the free camping area.
If you need to fill up water or dump tanks you’ll have to find an RV park nearby. There are several including, Bay Vista RV Park, Powderhorn RV Park, Indianola Fishing Marina RV Park, Lola and Ethel’s RV Park, Waterfront RV and a few others. Not all may allow you to dump and fill so you’ll want to call before heading there.
Family-Friendly Fun at Magnolia Beach:
Build sandcastles, fly kites, or enjoy a picnic with loved ones overlooking the ocean. Magnolia Beach offers a peaceful setting for families to relax and create lasting memories together.
Paddleboarding is highly recommended due to the shallow water. The water is very flat most of the time. If the wind comes up you may want to stay off the water.
Another popular activity is kayaking or boating if you happen to have one.
There is very little wave action here so you shouldn’t have to worry about undertows, but check with the locals or look for signage that let’s you know the conditions at the time.
Sunset Serenity:

When we visited there were nights when the mosquitoes were pretty bad around sunset so make sure you come prepared for that.
